RaveBot rides on the same 4-motor tank-tread chassis as the rest of the fleet, but everything above the drivetrain is built for one purpose — being the life of the party. It plays a music playlist through onboard speakers, scrolls karaoke-style lyrics across a mounted touchscreen, and seeks out nearby people (and pets) to come entertain.
Vision & Navigation
The brain is a Raspberry Pi 5 paired with an AI HAT+ (Hailo-8L, 13 TOPS), giving it enough CNN inference horsepower to spot humans and animals through its onboard camera. A separate layer of LiDAR and ultrasonic echolocation sensors handles collision avoidance independently of the vision system, so RaveBot can safely close in on a person, stop, and let them enjoy the show before moving on.
The Light Show
Two matching arm assemblies, one per side, each built from three servos in series — X, then Y, then Z — with a low-power (≤10mW) laser diode mounted at the tip instead of a further arm segment. All six servos move in sync with the beat, swinging and sweeping the lasers the same way a simple audio-reactive projector does — just with a physical arm instead of a mirror galvo.
Power
A single 12V sealed lead-acid battery feeds a set of isolated regulated rails — one dedicated to the Pi 5 and AI HAT so nothing else on the bot can starve it, one for the six servos and touchscreen, and a quiet, low-noise rail for the sensor logic. Reverse-polarity protection and a fused input keep the whole thing safe to swap batteries on.
